Gail’s Refreshing Splash Drink

Experimenting is so fun…even with juicing. That is the way I found this drink. It is awesome! It really is refreshing.

I screw a canning jar lid down on this and take it to work to sip on all morning.

Juice the following:
1. A couple handfuls ( I ball it up–seems to juice better) of spinach and other greens
2. 2 or 3 large apples
3. 1 piece ginger root

Meanwhile, in a large drinking jar, put the juice of 1 lemon and 1 heaping teaspoon of raw honey. Add water.

Mix the two drinks together
Add ice
Enjoy a wonderfully refreshing, revitalizing drink!

Flowers Along the Way

Its so easy to fall into a chasm of depression in the world we live in. I have found a walk in a quiet place with nature all around me lifts my spirits and helps me get through another week. But I have also found people in my life who lift me up. It may be family or co-workers or even a stranger who does a kind deed or gives me a bright smile. They all are like the beautiful flowers along the paths I walk in nature. This poem I wrote is for you.

The trail led upward
through tangled vines
I was attacked by robbers
though the sun still shined.

Painfully, I climbed back to the path
while the prince of darkness
had poured out his wrath.

I called to the One who is always there
I told Him that my pain was more than I could bear.

Then on this trail of tears down here
he gave me flowers
to lift and cheer.

People, they are who blossom and show
beauty to me
as I onward go.

Occasionally I find a special flower
that speaks to me
of my God’s great power.

It lifts my heart and lightens my way
giving me strength for another day
this wonderful plant
how it makes me smile
bringing me joy
for another mile.

Ode to Hike II

Words cannot describe...

Words cannot describe…

On a little out-of-the-way road that I found
Natures beauty did abound.
It has never been advertised abroad
Few human feet step on its sod.
Oh, the beauty that spoke to me
In advertisements you will not see.
Pictures, Pictures I must take
Flowers, butterflies, but no lake.
A creek does bubble, it does speak
My ears hear the music, and my camera does seek.
But the foliage, it lays so thick
My camera just can’t do its trick.
Another day I will follow the music of the creek
My lens will win its game of hide and seek.

Beautiful Kentucky Scenery

As I trekked along my hiking trail through the woods, lines of poetry from Robert Frost came to my mind. “The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep.”
Beautiful scenery and delightful poetry walk hand in hand with me. I seem to get restless a lot lately and just have to get out and walk trails through the woods or along a lakeside. The quietness and beauty calm me down whether my heart is breaking or if I am riled.
I would like to share some of the Kentucky scenery with you:
